$5 Meals for a family of 4; Items purchased at WinCo Foods
I am happy to participate in the $5dollar dinners Bargain Meal of the Week.Ingredients were all purchased at WinCo Foods (Thursday August 27th)
Meal#1
Crockpot Ground Beef Stronganoff
Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef (30%) $3.96
2 med. onions chopped $.48
2 garlic cloves,minced $.25
1 small can of sliced mushrooms, drained $.44
2 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 cup beef bouillon $.17
3 tbsp tomato paste $.10
1 1/2 cups sour creamed mixed with 4 tbsp flour $.96
Brown ground beef in large skillet; add onions, garlic and mushrooms; saute until onion is golden brown (this can be done the night before, so you can throw everything in the crock pot before work); place in crockpot; stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 6/8 hours. Serve over potatoes, noodles or rice.
This serves a total of 8, so the cost of a meal for a family of four is:
Total $3.18 add egg noodles for $2.49
Grand Total $5.67.
I prefer serving with mashed potatoes which makes the Total $4.33 for the strongnoff and mashed potatoes.

Pasta Roni Southwest Skillet
Ingredients:
3/4 lb lean ground beef $1.86
1 1/2 cups water
3/4 cups of milk $.12
2 tbsp butter $.15
1 package (6oz) Pasta Roni Corkscrew with Four cheese $1.00
1 teaspoon chili powder $.10
1 cup chunky salsa $.64
1 cup frozen whole kernel corn $.59
1/2 cup (2oz) shredded Mexican cheese blend (Sargentos) $.40
Chopped Cilantro (optional) $.10
In a large skillet, brown ground beef until thoroughly cooked; drain. Add 1 1/2 cups water, 3/4 cup milk, and 2 tablespoons butter to skillet with beef. Bring to a boil.
Slowly stir in pasta, seasonings, and chili powder. Return to a boil. Reduce heat to medium. Gently boil uncovered, 7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir in salsa and corn; return to a boil. Boil 1 to 2 minutes until pasta is slightly firm; stirring frequently. Remove skillet from heat. (sauce will be thin). Sprinkle with cheese and topping over pasta. Let stand for 3 to 5 minutes for sauce to thicken. Sprinkle with cilantro, if desired. Serves 4
Total $4.96
Serve with taco chips, a side salad, or can of green beans for less than a $1, still making it a $5 meal.

WinCo Foods Meat Sale - Richland WA
I wanted to let everyone know that I was in WinCo (Richland, WA) today and they were putting coupons on most the meat and chicken packages. Most of the coupons were $2 and $3. I'm not sure if they are doing this at the other WinCo stores. I need to start checking on Fridays to see if this is something they do on Fridays to move the meat for the weekend. I picked up some nice chuck cross rib steak for $5.

If you have never been, take your kids they will enjoy it. They are so proud of themselves after they have built something. My kids are 6 (almost 7) and 11 and they both love it.

$5 Meals For a Family of 4 Purchased at WinCo Foods
I am happy to participate in the $5dollar dinners Bargain Meal of the Week.Ingredients were all purchased at WinCo Foods (Thursday August 20th)
Meal #1
Pasta Pizza
Ingredients:
8oz spaghetti, cooked, drained (Ronzoni $1.18lb) $.59
1 egg, beaten $.10
1/4 cup milk $.03
3/4 lb ground beef $1.50
1 can 14oz tomato sauce $.48 (Hy-Top brand)
1 envelope Good seasons Garlic & Herb or Italian salad dressing mix $1.08
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese $.71 (Hy-Top brand)
Toss spaghetti, egg, and milk in large bowl. Spread evenly in greased 12 inch pizza pan.
Brown meat in medium skillet; drain. Stir in tomato sauce and salad dressing mix. Spoon over spaghetti crust. Sprinkle with cheese.
Bake 350 for 20 to 25 minutes or until cheese is melted.
Total $4.01 add garlic bread or Texas Toast for about $1.50 more. You can also add other ingredients to the pizza and still keep your meal a $5 meal.
Meal #2
Hamburger Patties in Mushroom Soup
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef $1.98
1 can cream of mushroom soup $.78 (Hy-Top brand)
1 med onion chopped $.35
1/2 tsp basil leaves
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp celery salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 cup water
~$.50 for seasonings
Make ground beef into patties, fry until they are brown on the outside, if the inside is pink that's okay. Place in baking dish; sprinkle on seasonings and onions. Combine soup and water; pour over patties. Bake at 375 degrees or 20 minutes.
Total $3.61 serve with homemade mashed potatoes for ~$1.25 or over rice for about $1.50 more.
This is a favorite at our house.
