$5 Meals for a family of 4 - Items purchased at WinCo Foods


I am happy to participate in the $5dollar dinners Bargain Meal of the Week.

Meal #1
Potato Soup with Hamburger (Serves 6-8)

Ingredients:
1lb Ground beef $1.98
4 cups red potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch cubes ~$.20 ($1.98 5lbs)
1 small onion, chopped $.34
3 - 8oz cans of tomato sauce (Hy-Top) $.27 each
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
4 cups water
1/4 tsp hot pepper sauce

Brown ground beef in skillet, and drain. Place meat in slow cooker.
Add potatoes, onion, and tomato sauce. Stir in last 4 ingredients. Cover and cook on high until mixture starts to simmer. (about 1 hour). Turn to low continue to cook for 2 1/2 -3 hours or til potatoes are tender.

Total $3.33 serves 4 with leftovers

Meal #2
Tuna Cakes (serves 6) We love these


2 can 5 or 6oz tuna in water $.58 each
1 pkg Stove Top Stuffing mix for chicken $1.18
1 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese $.60 (Hy-Top brand)
3/4 cup water
1 carrot, shredded $.15
1/3 cup real mayo $.35
2 tbsp sweet pickle relish $.25 (we leave this ingredient out, but if you like relish add it)
Hollidaise Sauce $.44
~1/2 stick butter for Hollidaise sauce $.50
Salad $.98

MIX all ingredients. Refrigerate 10 min.

HEAT large nonstick skillet sprayed with cooking spray on medium heat. Use ice cream scoop to add 1/3-cup portions of tuna mixture, in batches, to skillet.

FLATTEN into patties with back of spatula. Cook 6 min. or until golden brown on both sides, carefully turning patties over after 3 min.

Cook Hollidaise Sauce according to directions. Pour over tuna cakes and serve with salad.
Total $5.61 Serves 4 with leftovers
