$5 Bargain Meals for a family of 4

I am happy to participate in the $5dollar dinners Bargain Meal of the Week.

Ingredients were all purchased at WinCo Foods (Thursday July 2nd)

I know everyone will be eating hamburgers and hot dogs this week, so for the beginning of the week give these chicken recipes a try.

Chicken recipes - I love chicken!!

Meal #1
Chicken Paprika (one of my favorites)

Ingredients:
4 boneless chicken breast ($2.28lb)
1 can cream of mushroom soup ($.78 use generic brand)
8 oz sour cream ($.64)
paprika
red pepper flakes
veg oil

serve with box of the Suddenly Salad pasta on sale ($1.18), and a can of green beans ($.55) or mashed potatoes.

Total $5.43

Fry up chicken in oil until almost cooked. Add sour cream and soup. Do not add milk to soup. If the sauce seems a bit thick, add a little water. Sprinkle with paprika and red pepper flakes to taste (I like a lot of paprika and a little bit of red pepper). Cook until chicken is no longer pink the in middle.

Meal #2
Best Chicken Fingers Ever!
(My Own Creation)
really give this a try, using the Panko you will never use regular bread crumbs again

Ingredients:
1 1/4 lb Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast cut into strips ($2.85)
1/2 cup mayo ($.20 depending on if you purchased your mayo on sale or not)
1 1/2 to 2 cups Panko bread crumbs ($.89) found by the Asian foods
Veg oil

Serve with 4 corn on the cobs $1.32 and a wedge of water melon (~$.50)

Total $5.76

Put mayo in one dish, bread crumbs in another. Put enough oil to just cover the bottom of the skillet heat (on med-high). Coat chicken strips with mayo (lightly, not thick) then with bread crumbs, fry in hot oil (turn it down if it gets too hot you don't want to burn them) until golden brown. Fry up each side. You will probably have to add oil as needed. The Panko really soaks up the oil - but does not taste greasy. Serve with your favorite sauce.
