Safeway's 1 Trip, 1 bag, 5 meals for $41.03


Take 1 trip to Safeway, buy one bag of groceries, and have 5 meals. All ingredients were purchased at Safeway for $41.03. You will also have left over grocery items as well.

Five meals are: Italian Pork Chops Mozzarella, Pork Chops Mexicana, Angel Chicken, Slow Cooker Chicken Curry, Mini Pizzas.

Your Safeway Grocery list:
  • 10 pack Safeway English Muffins (you will use 4) $2.19
  • Safeway cocktail peanuts 12oz $1.99 (you will use 1/2 cup)
  • 1 can Safeway condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup $.89
  • 16 oz Sour Cream - Lucrene (you will use 1 cup) $1.49
  • 2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese - Lucrene $2.49
  • 8oz Lucrene cream cheese $1.49 (you will use 4oz)
  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast $4.49 ($2.99lb)
  • 1 1/2 lbs chicken thighs $1.49 ($.99 lb)
  • 3 lbs pork chops $5.37 ($1.79 for assorted chops)
  • 64 oz Pace Thick n' Chunky Salsa $7.59
  • 1lb Barilla angel pasta $1.25
  • 1 24oz jar Classico spaghetti sauce $2.50 (your choice of flavor)
  • 1 bunch Cilantro $.99
  • 1 bunch parsley $.99
  • 1 medium onion $.54
  • 1 16 oz Kraft Tuscan Italian Dressing $2.99 (you will use 1/4 cup)
  • 1 box Shake n' bake Original Pork seasoned coating mix $2.29

Things you should have on hand:

  • 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup white wine, or substitute chicken broth
  • 1/4 grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp Curry powder
  • 1/8 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 8oz Gallo pepperoni $3.50

Italian Pork Chops Mozzarella
What You Need:

8 pork chops (2 lb.)
1 pkt. SHAKE 'N BAKE Original Pork Seasoned Coating Mix
1-1/2 cups spaghetti sauce
1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1/2 angel pasta
PREHEAT oven to 425°F. Coat chops with coating mix as directed on package. Discard any remaining coating mix.

PLACE chops in 15x10x1-inch baking pan.

BAKE 15 min. or until cooked through (160°F). Top chops evenly with spaghetti sauce and cheese. Bake an additional 10 min. or until sauce is heated through and cheese is melted. Serve with Angel Pasta (cook as directed)



Angel Chicken

What You Need:

4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) Cream Cheese, softened
1 can (10-3/4 oz.) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/4 cup KRAFT Tuscan House Italian Dressing and Marinade
1/4 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
1-1/2 lb. boneless skinless chicken breast
1/2 lb. angel hair pasta, uncooked
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
Make It!

BEAT cream cheese, soup, dressing and wine with whisk until blended; pour over chicken in slow cooker. Cook on LOW 4 to 5 hours (or on HIGH 2 to 3 hours).
COOK pasta as directed on package about 15 min. before chicken is done; drain. Serve topped with chicken mixture and parsley.
Pork Chops Mexicana
What You Need:

4 boneless pork chops (1 lb.), 1/2 inch thick
1-1/4 cups Thick 'N Chunky Salsa
1/2 cup finely chopped COCKTAIL Peanuts
1 tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
Make It:
COOK chops in large nonstick skillet sprayed with cooking spray on medium-high heat 2 to 3 min. on each side or until browned on both sides.
COMBINE salsa, peanuts, cocoa and cinnamon; spoon over chops. Simmer on medium-low heat 5 min. or until chops are done and sauce is thickened, turning chops over and stirring sauce after 3 min.
TOP with cilantro.



Slow-cooker Chicken Curry
What You Need:

5 chicken thighs (1 1/2 lb.), skins removed
8 oz Thick 'N Chunky Salsa
1/2 onion, chopped
1 Tbsp. curry powder
1/2 cup Free Sour Cream
Make It:

LACE chicken in slow cooker. Combine next 3 ingredients; pour over chicken. Cover with lid.
COOK on LOW 8 to 10 hours (or on HIGH 5 hours).
REMOVE chicken to serving platter; cover to keep warm. Add sour cream to slow cooker; stir until well blended. Serve over chicken.

Mini Pizzas
What You Need!

4 English muffins, cut in half, toasted
1/2 cup spaghetti sauce
1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
24 slices Pepperoni
Make It!
HEAT oven to 400ºF.
PLACE muffin halves on foil-covered baking sheet; spread with pizza sauce.
TOP with remaining ingredients.
BAKE 8 to 10 min. or until cheese is melted.
